One of our customers had a problem: the jaws of his concrete shears broke very quickly when cutting rebar. The customer asked us if we could make the same blades, but from better material, and we took on the challenge!
The challenge started with looking for better and stronger material. We used wst.1.2746 steel for this. This material is known for its high toughness and yet good wear resistance when cutting steel. The blades are milled from solid material in 1 clamping on our 5-axis milling machine with robot loading. After hardening, they can be used immediately.
The customer is now testing the first proto series, and we are very curious about the results!
